By Bread or By Word: How Then Will You Live?

Updated: Jun 13

Welcome in, Beloved of God. Chosen one.

He who stands solitary and alone before the Almighty.

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
1 Peter 2:9 NKJV

Speaking to he who have no choice but to believe and persevere because of the love we received from Him at the very beginning.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
Jeremiah 1:5 KJV

“We love him, because he first loved us.”
1 John 4:19 KJV

Now, seeing that we have been bestowed with such a love as this, how then shall we live?

In love, He has given us the gift, shall we call it, of free will.

This being true, how should we best exercise such a will?

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”
Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15 KJV

“And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:” “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
Genesis 2:16-17 KJV

“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
Matthew 4:4 KJV

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
James 1:8 KJV

“And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”
Mark 3:25 KJV

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
James 4:8 KJV

“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.”
Romans 7:18 KJV

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
Psalms 84:11 KJV

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 10:10 KJV

Lord Jesus,

I thank you, dear Lord, for provision and protection, for your strength in my weakness, for a strong tower to which I can flee for help, 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV, Proverbs 18:10 KJV.

Your abundant tender mercies rain down on me as a sojourner in a dry and barren land.

Peace you have given me, not peace as the world gives, but peace that transcends all understanding, John 14:27 KJV.

I praise your holy name.

I give you honor and glory,as you truly deserve.

"Holy, holy, holy," exclaim I, as I enter your divine presence, your sacred presence, your healing presence.

I come into your most holy presence, cloaked in the raiment of humility.

A servant at your beck and call.

Hide not your heart from me, dear Lord, keep your path ever illuminated before mine eyes that I may not backslide and sin against you, Psalms 119:11 KJV.

For I will to do that one thing, that singular thing, that good thing, which is to be pleasing in your sight, to succumb not to the wiles of the flesh which lead to death but to submit to your will, that is the only good thing.

You have set both life and death before me and given me the space to choose.

Intending that I may indeed choose life, that good part, the light and not the darkness.

For in the darkness, one gropes around blindly pursuing the lust of the flesh, which leads to sin, and the wages of sin are death, Romans 6:23 KJV.

Indeed, you came that I should have life, and have it more abundantly, John 10:10 KJV.

Strengthen me, Elohim Adonai, to put off my double-mindedness, striving for one thing and lusting for another.

Teach me to rely on the sustenance of your eternal living word and not by the temporal imaginations of this age, which come to naught.

In order to follow in your perfect example, I must maintain not only a physical presence, but I must be spiritually strong.

I must be spiritually mature.

Educate me, O Lord, in crucifying the flesh, that I may, having knowledge of both good and evil, choose the good part and bear good fruit for the glory of your name and kingdom. Amen.
