Worldly sacrifices are made via indulging in the lusts of the flesh to the detriment of your soul.
When you offer up sacrifices to the world, in the form of satisfying the works and lusts of the flesh,
which is sin for we know that anything that is in and of the flesh cannot please God.
“So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”
Romans 8:8 KJV
And to please God is to be holy as i am holy.
“Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:16 KJV
And to please God is to be a man after God's own heart.
"...I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.”
Acts 13:22 KJV
And to please God is to if you love me follow my commandments.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
John 14:15 KJV
And to please God is to if you love me feed my sheep.
“He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me?...
Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.”
John 21:17 KJV
So, we know that the opposite of that, is sin, the works of the flesh, and those that are in the flesh cannot please God...
So coming back, if we offer up the sacrifices of the wicked, to the world, which are the works of the flesh coated in lasciviousness and lust, we will reap the world's reward.
What?
There is a reward for sin?
Behold the wages of sin is death, for it is written,
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 KJV
So if we sacrifice to the world in order to be accepted by the world,
we turn our backs against God.
For it is written,
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
James 4:4 KJV
So, if we by loving the world turn our backs to God in order to be accepted by the world
because those who are in the world hear the world, understand the world, and accept the world
but they know knot us, because they knew not him, they know not the one who sent us...
“They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.”
1 John 4:5 KJV
“We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”
1 John 4:6 KJV
So if we love the world and hate God, we gain nothing ?
Oh no, surely you gain something.
But that something is death.
So in gaining the world's acceptance and the world's goods, we, in turn, gain death.
By turning our backs on god, we gain death.
By hating the truth of holiness, you gain death.
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
Mark 8:36 KJV
So what is vanity?
So what is the acceptance and regard of man?
What is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life?
All these ill-begotten things lead to death.
All the works of the flesh lead to death.
The death of your soul.
The death of your relationship with God.
The death of your spiritual well-being and growth and subsequent maturity.
The wages of sin is death.
So, essentially it is a setup
When you think about it...
Because as we grow up, society and our budding flesh teaches us to serve the world.
And not to serve God.
But to serve the god of this world.
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
2 Corinthians 4:4 KJV
In our naive spiritual youth, what place is there for God?
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Matthew 6:24 KJV
“But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:42 KJV
Shalom, Beloved.
